We are First Hmong Alliance Church
Our Story

In 1975, many Hmong families displaced by the Vietnam War resettled in the Chicagoland area and throughout Illinois as refugees with the help of many compassionate churches and non-profits. The scattered believers longed to gather for community and to worship together with their Hmong brothers and sisters in their new foreign land, but this was incredibly challenging as many were without transportation or forms of communication.
On Christmas Day in 1976, news slowly spread about a long-awaited church service. Many of those families braced the Midwest winter and a snowstorm to worship together for the first time. That became the birth of this faith community.
Our Senior Pastor

We belong to a broader family called the Christian & Missionary Alliance.
Local Alliance churches are organized into 25 geographic/ethnically designed districts (21 geographic districts and four multicultural districts) and nine associations/ethnic ministries (African, African American, Arabic, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Haitian, Montagnard, and Native American). The Alliance also gives oversight to the Alliance federal chaplains—endorsement of military chaplains and institutional chaplains serving federal agencies. Each district is under the supervision of a district superintendent who reports to Church Ministries at the National Office.
